VISIT TO HMS INVINCIBLE 27th JULY

Squadron member Bill Covington arranged this visit by kind permission of the Commanding Officer Captain Neil Morisetti.

Thirty one Squadron members and their guests were given a generous reception by Commander (Air) Richard Brooksbank, Commander(AE) David Childs, Little F Alastair Cottee and others.

A buffet lunch was followed by an extensive tour in four groups of the Operations Room, hangar, flight deck and Bridge/Flyco after which a group photograph was taken. There was no shortage of interest and detailed and technical questions were answered fully.

The visit was a major success and recruitment from currently serving officers into the Squadron (and Association) is envisaged.

The visit was preceded by Squadron aircraft landing on at Lee-on-Solent including, on this occasion, not only fixed wing but also a military Bell 412 and a Robinson 44. Transfer to and from Portsmouth dockyard was made by coach.
The Squadron aircraft departed Lee-on-Solent in a stream take-off.

Report by Michael Bonham Cozens.
