RNAS YEOVILTON ROYAL NAVAL HISTORIC FLIGHT

OPEN DAY SATURDAY 21st JULY

John Beattie once again organised the Open Day at Yeovilton and reports that this time the weather was very beneficial apart from a light shower. Aeroplanes turned up in the right numbers, the many members of the paying public all flew and some even got second rides.

The displays by Scout, Piston Provost and Harvard were well received as were the talks in the hangar - particularly John Farley talking about the development of the Harrier.

The Squadron flew in in the shape of Michael Ryan in the TB10, Admiral Sir Ray Lygo in his Golden Eagle, Greg Moor in his Shadow, Dave Shrimpton in his Bolkow 209, Gordon Winterborne in his Taylorcraft. Unfortunately the weather at Bodmin prevented Roger Richardson Bunbury from taking off.

This time it is believed that the day was profitable for the Historic Flight.
