Swordfish

HMS Heron was commissioned sixty years ago in 1940 and since that time has increased in size, importance and purpose. Yeovilton and Culdrose are now two of the largest and most active military airfields in the United Kingdom.

Commodore Richard Clapp RN,the Commanding Officer of Yeovilton welcomed the general public to a fine air display by a wide range of aircraft ancient and modern.

Squadron members attending in the Wardroom enclosure included Tony Ashmead,Tony Brewster, Kevin Crumplin, David and Sheila Foster, Gregory Moor, Michael and Charmian Ryan, and in addition Mike Smith and Denis Woodhams brought their R22, Tiger Moth and Piper Cub for the static display.

Dave Mackay and Dave Morgan, both of whom are members, flew the Swordfish and a display Yak respectively.
