Fly-In to Sywell (Northampton)

5th October 1997

The Squadron was finally blessed with fair weather for this final fly in of 1997. This resulted in a good turnout and the following members came:- Tony Ashmead and his wife Jill in a Streak Shadow from New Milton, Dr.Leo Baker and his wife Susan in a Skyhawk 11/C 172 from Exeter, Michael Bonham Cozens and his wife Eve and Ron Dobree-Carey in a Bonanza B36 from Compton Abbas, Malcolm Derrick and his wife Ann in their Piper Arrow 1V from Top Farm, John Eatwell in his Streak Shadow from Boscombe Down, Trevor Jones in his Shadow from White Waltham, Peter Lovegrove with Chris Durham in the Beech Duchesse from Bournemouth, Arthur Record in his Mistral from Selby North Yorks, Denis Woodhams in a PA28 Warrior from Bidford, Bruce McDonald by car from St.Albans. The Squadron aircraft all parked down one end of the airfield in front of the clubhouse and restaurant. Members wandered up and down acquainting themselves with each other and their aircraft. For lunch everyone was seated round a single long table and there was much chatter and conviviality - even with sparkling water and orange juice to drink !
